Some advice on the steps pictured above:

If you make this card correctly the star will sweep above the mountain, from right to left, as you open the card. When you close the card the star will fold neatly away out of sight!

Here's how to do it...

  1. First, carefully cut out the card, the star piece, and the mountain shape.
  1. Fold the card along the dotted lines, then open it up again.
  1. Fold the mountain shape and fold the star piece as shown.
  1. Glue the bottom part of the star piece onto the card (marked "A"). Only use a thin smear of glue and only on the bottom part.
  1. This is how your pop-up-card should look so far.

  1. Now you can glue the left hand side of the mountain shape to the card. Only use a few drops.
It sits next to the star shape.
  1. This is how your pop-up-card should look now.
  1. Stretch open the mountain shape, and glue to the tab on the right hand side of the card.
  1. Your card is finished! Please let the glue dry before you close the card.

  1. OK...carefully close the card. The star should fold out of sight as you close the card. If not, don't worry, you can help it fold inwards with a gentle push.

Congratulations! You've made a Christmas star pop-up card.

About this card: Christmas Star Pop-up

The Gospel of Matthew refers to the story of the Magi, or the three wise men, who arrived in Bethlehem guided by a bright star in the night sky. This is known as the Star of Bethlehem.

They asked, "Where is the one who was born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star rising and have come to worship him." Matthew 2:2
